Japan’s SBI Holdings, in collaboration with Aplus and SBI VC Trade, is enabling its users to convert credit card points into Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP.
The initiative aligns with Japan’s goal for mainstream crypto adoption by 2025, potentially increasing XRP liquidity and easing consumer entry into digital assets.
SBI and Aplus Enable Crypto through Card Points
SBI Holdings is collaborating with Aplus to enable credit card points conversion into cryptocurrency. The initiative involves transferring points into users’ SBI VC Trade accounts, offering broader accessibility to digital assets.
The program highlights SBI’s commitment to enhancing crypto adoption. According to Yoshitaka Kitao, CEO of SBI Holdings, “is leading this rewards program as part of SBI’s broader push for mainstream digital asset adoption, in alignment with Japan’s central bank’s 2025 targets for national XRP integration.”
Japan Facilitates Crypto Access via Credit Points
The program lowers barriers for Japanese consumers, who can now easily access crypto without registering on exchanges. Initial community responses are positive, anticipating enhanced XRP utility across financial systems.
This move signals strong institutional support and potential for increased XRP liquidity. By bridging traditional finance with crypto, it facilitates seamless entry, not reliant on direct blockchain interaction.
SBI’s Strategy: Expanding Beyond XRP Rewards
SBI previously limited rewards to XRP alone. This broader program mimics past success in solidifying XRP’s presence in Japan, potentially positioning it leading in digital payments once again.
Experts predict increased crypto transactions due to ease of point conversion. The program sets a precedent, potentially encouraging other regions and companies to adopt similar crypto reward systems.
